Abstract: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development published the first Guidelines for Cryptography Policy on March 27, 1997, and reviews and updates them every five years. The most recent guidelines discuss the transition to electronic transactions, secret key cryptography, public key cryptography, digital signature, electronic payments, certifying public key relationships, user trust, user choice, market-driven development, standardisation, protection of privacy, lawful access, liability, international cooperation, and government activities related to cryptography policy.
