Abstract: On January 5, 2016, Fortune published an article about the Dutch government’s decision to not request a backdoor to encryption data and communications. The article noted that the government acknowledged both sides of the backdoor debate, and determined that “it is not desirable at this time to take restrictive regulatory measures with respect to the development, availability, and use of encryption within the Netherlands.”
