Abstract: American Cryptology During the Cold War, 1945-1989 is the first two books in a four book series written by Thomas R. Johnson of the NSA’s Center for Cryptological History detailing the U.S. government’s use of cryptology. It begins by describing post-WWII cryptology to the end of the Nixon administration. This series seeks to describe events relevant to the development of the field, focusing on themes of “expansion and centralization.”
